about

At the beginning of 2010 we stumbled across the soundcloud page of then unknown producer from Ireland Ian O'Donovan it was like a treasure chest of unsigned melodic Detroit Techno unearthed from the early 90s. Ian's style had gained attention from the one and from a true pioneer.

"I went to Soundcloud website and on this website I am always searching for new artists. I just discovered a pearl. An artist who's name is Ian O'Donovan. If this guy produced music 15 years ago he would have got signed on labels like Transmat!. Frankly his music is excellent here we have the grandson of Detroit melodica. Go to soundcloud and listen to him and his productions. I think it will touch some people"
- Laurent Garnier (It Is What It Is Radioshow, January 2010)

We signed 9 tracks (3 xEPs ) straight off for our sister label Hype Muzik which were released between April 2010 and September 2011. Since releasing his first ever EP Ian has made gradual and ever so impressive steps up the ladder of success his sound became recognised by more and more of his peers leading to releasing music on some of Techno's most prominent labels including Drumcode, Intec, Bedrock, Connaisseur Recordings, KMS, Tronic, Planet E Communications, Exploited and many others. Carl Cox, Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, John Digweed, Shir Khan, Hernan Cattaneo, Adam Beyer, Ida Engberg, Petar Dundov, the aforementioned Mr Garnier and so many more the list is endless.

Now we have put together on one album those new new nine tracks which were among the first to put Ian's name on the map plus Ian's own Stripped Down remix of the track Reign Orion which was released on Stripped Recordings back in 2011. The album is entitled "The Early Tapes"
